Brenda Hornsby-Heindl
Brenda Hornsby Heindl
WPAMC 2010
Mentoring Program
Brenda is the Head of the Ceramics Department at Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Auctions in Virginia. She is a 2010 graduate of the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture and an alumna of Berea College in Kentucky.  Her prior work includes the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, and the Ceramics and Glass Department at Colonial Williamsburg under the guidance of Janine E. Skerry and Suzanne Findlen Hood. She also lectures and presents workshops on historic ceramics including teaching the incoming Winterthur students an introduction to historic pottery production. As a practicing potter, she built a wood-firing, salt-glaze kiln in 2012, and uses her studio, Liberty Stoneware, as an outlet for historic ceramics research.

Grants Advisor
Matt is the Executive Director of The Decorative Arts Trust in Philadelphia. What he appreciates most about his involvement in SOWF is the chance to promote the work of fellow alumni and encourage the next generation of museum professionals and decorative arts historians while remaining connected to an amazing institution.

Jody Cross
Jody Cross
WPEAC 2001
Membership
Jody is Assistant Director of Membership at Winterthur where she helps run the Membership & Annual Giving Department. Being able to stay in contact with Winterthur’s many alumni is critical to the membership program, as alumni are some of the best ambassadors for Winterthur.

Jody was happy to be asked to help coordinate the Winterthur side of a joint membership.  Staying in contact with all Winterthur alumni from both programs is no small feat. This past year saw a transition to a new SOWF website that allows alumni to change their contact and directory info in real time and choose various levels of support. Jody helped the board in the transfer of alumni data into the new website and provided assistance with the mailings that went out to alumni in 2017. Now that alumni memberships are processed through the new website, Jody’s role will be to help process and send out Winterthur membership cards to those alumni who have chosen the joint membership level of support.

Julee Gooding

WPEAC 1980
Web Guru
Julee Rees Gooding is a WPAMC graduate of the class of 1980 and has been an  Independent Web designer/developer since 2001. Julee is now semi-retired, cruising the Intercoastal Waterway with her husband, John. As a fellow, Julee immersed herself in the nerdier aspects of research. Classmate Ulysses Dietz once chided her for spending so much time reading books without pictures. The Winterthur Program was a magical experience and proved an excellent foundation for what became a very different career path.

Her professional activities include conservation advocacy and outreach, leading to involvement in disaster relief activities after Hurricane Katrina, training cultural heritage professionals in Iraq, and engagement in projects promoting preventive conservation and sustainability, as well as public programs to help Winterthur reach new audiences. Her long-term research interest in architectural drawings resulted in the 2010 publication of Line, Shade and Shadow: The Fabrication and Preservation of Architectural Drawings, which won the Historic Preservation Book of the Year Award.
